Department of Sanskrit, University of Mumbai is extremely honored by the recent high-level meeting with the Education Minister- Dr.Deepak kumar Gairola on 24th July 2026. Which was successfully addressed critical systemic upgrades for the academic year. A constructive dialogue focused on academic initiatives, research collaboration, and future opportunities for the promotion of Sanskrit studies. The Minister strongly emphasized that the government’s primary milestone is promoting research collaborations and fostering critical thinking among youth. The Department introduced its academic programmes, ongoing courses, and major departmental publications. Discussions were held on promoting interdisciplinary research, particularly in the areas of Sanskrit grammar and linguistics. The Hon’ble Minister suggested strengthening academic collaboration with organizations such as Sanskrit Bharati and the Central Sanskrit University to expand research and educational opportunities. The possibility of undertaking music therapy and mantra-based research was discussed as an emerging interdisciplinary field. Hon’ble Minister emphasized on conducting action research to address contemporary educational and societal needs. The Department felicitated Dr. Deepak Kumar Gairola by presenting the departmental publication ‘Gaurigauravam’. The Hon’ble Minister was welcomed by the faculty members of the Department: Dr. Suchitra Tajane – Head, Department of Sanskrit, Prof. Dr. Madhavi Narsalay, Dr. Shakuntala Gawde – Associate Professor, Renuka Panchal – Assistant Professor, Dr. Medha Deshpande – Research Assistant and Balasaheb Wagh – Assistant Professor
