Department of Sanskrit, University of Mumbai organizes a lecture by Dr. Chandrakant Puri, (Director, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Contemporary Studies) on Research methods regarding tribal mythology and folklore. The speaker is an eminent researcher and social activist. He is recipient of several prestigious awards and has authored 2 books, with an own folk music troop. A known name in the learned circles, his lecture will provide further insight into preserving culture, rural beliefs & oral traditions.

‘Adi shankara Puraskara 2014’ was conferred on distinguished professors of our department in the presence of Kanchi kamkoti shankaracharya on 11th December 2014. Dr. Uma Vaidya (Honourable Vice Chancellor, KKSU) and Dr. Gauri Mahulikar (Head, Department of Sanskrit, University of Mumbai ) were felicitated with this prestigious award.
