Introduction to Hemachandra’s Vyākaraṇa
Overview:
There are a large number of religious and literary texts composed in Prākṛta, going as far back as 5th Century B.C. Sanskrit drama is incomplete without Prākṛta elements. The commonly known Prākṛta(s) are Mahāraṣṭrī, Māgadhī, Śaursenī, Ardhamāgadhī & Paiśacī.
K J Somaiya Centre for Buddhist Studies and K J Somaiya Centre for Jaina Studies are pleased to jointly announce a short term course on “Introduction to Hemachandra’s Vyākaraṇa”. Participants will be guided through the nuances of language by referring to Hemachandra’s Vyākaraṇa. At the end of the course they will be capable of identifying different types of Prākṛta and a glimpse into the vast treasure- house of Prakṛta Literature.

- Selection from Jaina Literature
- Prākṛta, Pali & Sanskrit: A Linguistic Comparison
- Comparative study of Buddhist & Jaina Dhammapada
